The actor Colin Farrell has said farewell to his English country-style home in the Hollywood Hills. After putting it on the market for $1,495,000, he let it go a few weeks later for $1.3 million.
The home was built in 1927 and has been renovated over the decades. It now totals 2,736 square feet and features five bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Owned by a trust tied to the actor, the house offers excellent bones and fine historic features, like leaded glass windows, a coved, high-ceilinged living room with a wood-burning fireplace, and a quaint study alcove.
The large lot is charming and private, with a hedge guarding it from the street, and brick walls and a natural hillside keeping curious fans from peeking into the backyard, where rambling garden pathways lead to multiple terraced entertaining patios.
Generous, multipaned windows look out on the canyon and the home’s beautiful, multitiered backyard, with its remarkable Southern California native landscaping.
There are plenty of balconies and decks that look perfect for spending time outside, including one off the formal dining room for al fresco dining and another in one of the master suites.
There are two bedrooms that could be used as a master; one on the upper level with the balcony, and another that has a fireplace on the garden level. There’s also a first-floor bedroom with a separate entrance, which could be used as an au pair suite.
Farrell has starred in numerous films, including “Miami Vice,” “In Bruges,” and “The Lobster.” On television, he played a cop with a troubled past in “True Detective.”
Arvin Haddad of the Agency represented the buyer.
