This Tuscan-inspired luxury home on the market for $2.65 million in Marietta, GA, is officially known as Villa Flora.
However, millions of Netflix watchers worldwide will recognize it as the TV home of the Miyagi-Do proprietor and auto dealership mogul Daniel LaRusso.
After three action-packed seasons of “Cobra Kai,” viewers are well-acquainted with the residence where an all-grown-up Ralph Macchio from “The Karate Kid” lives with his family.
The home in a suburb north of Atlanta easily stands in as a luxurious Southern California home designed to contrast with the much more humble digs of the “Cobra Kai” dojo owner and LaRusso’s arch-nemesis, Johnny Lawrence.
And while the high-kicking world of “Cobra Kai” is fictional, this very real home is very nice. The
six-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom mansion sits in the middle of the posh East Cobb neighborhood and comes with a number of unique features.Originally built in 2008 by an award-winning architect and an international chef to serve as their personal residence, it’s been the site of numerous parties and galas. Past guests at the residence include two former U.S. presidents and the golf legend Arnold Palmer.
Then there’s the cast and crew of “Cobra Kai,” which still films exteriors on the property on occasion. The film work means that the property comes complete with a built-in revenue stream.
When the series began filming on the property, several of the mansion’s many rooms were used for interior scenes. However, the production crew eventually built duplicate sets of the home’s interiors on a nearby sound stage, to save time and the expense of wear and tear on the property—and the owners.
This was a savvy choice, considering the home in the series is often filled with karate-kicking and -chopping teenagers, as it was in the scene below.
As inviting and luxurious as the home looks on TV, it’s even better in person. The atrium courtyard area and the wide-open kitchen/dining area are intriguing and inviting.
There’s also a primary suite with a bathroom that includes a free-standing copper tub and a spectacular brick shower.
An upstairs gallery can serve a number of purposes, including an office or library.
The property has been on and off the market a number of times over the past four years. In 2017, it landed on the market for $2.4 million, and had its price chopped down to $2 million by 2019, before vanishing from the market. Now, with the hit show as a calling card, the price for the place has jumped up. It remains to be seen whether a buyer will kick in the dough needed to clinch a deal.
Chad Carrodus of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty has the listing.
