MLB slugger Carlos González may have changed his mind about living in Orlando. His massive mansion in an exclusive guard-gated golf community is on the market for $5.5 million.
González paid $4.65 million for the contemporary five-bedroom home in early 2018, so if he gets his asking price, he’ll walk away with a nice profit.
Completed in 2016, the luxe estate was designed by architect Phil Kean, and was recognized as the National Association of Home Builders “New American Home” of 2017.
Located in the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club, the huge, 8,245-square-foot home greets you with a grand foyer. There is a secondary option for the front entrance that has a courtyard with a five-hole putting green and elegant palms.
The entire home has a breezy indoor-outdoor flow. An owner can easily open or close certain areas of the home to experience that seamless transition.
Long sliding doors controlled at the touch of a button make it simple to blend indoor and outdoor life.
Both the living area and dining room offer sunny views of the pool and courtyard. The dining room also has a temperature-controlled glass wine room.
The chic kitchen features top-notch appliances, an additional wine refrigerator, and walk-in pantry. There’s also an outdoor kitchen and dining area to take advantage of the warm weather.
A master suite, separate from the rest of the home, is a retreat unto itself. The suite features a private laundry, a spa bath, two walk-in closets, a breakfast area, and a covered veranda with fireplace.
All guest bedrooms include an en suite bathroom. There’s also a separate guest apartment with a secluded patio, kitchen, living area, and a bedroom with a full bathroom.
To chill out, you can enjoy the vistas from the rooftop sky terrace, which is accessible by a custom glass staircase, an elevator, or the custom spiral staircase on the pool deck. An outdoor bar area is prewired for audio and video, to entertain family and guests.
Country club community amenities include a championship golf course with clubhouse and lodge, a fitness center, tennis courts, and a lakefront pool. Orlando International Airport is just around the corner, and downtown Orlando is 20 miles away.
González, 35, is a native of Venezuela who broke into the big leagues in 2008 with the Oakland A’s. He spent a decade of his career starring in the outfield for the Colorado Rockies.
He has won three Gold Glove Awards, two Silver Slugger Awards, and made the All-Star squad three times. He didn’t play in 2020, but he hasn’t announced his retirement as of yet, and remains a free agent.
Debbie Tassell with Corcoran Premier Realty has the listing.
