The former Anheuser-Busch estate in Fort Lauderdale, FL, has come on the market for $19.25 million.
Built in the 1930s for the Anheuser-Busch family, the waterfront home has a long history.
Most recently, the property was purchased in 2014 by the Canadian TV personality and merchant banker Michael Wekerle, for $12.5 million.
Best-known as an investor on a Canadian show similar to “Shark Tank,” titled “Dragons’ Den,” the businessman has decided to part with the home, because he can’t travel or bring his family to stay there thanks to the pandemic, according to the listing agent, Ruchel Coetzee of Douglas Elliman.
After Prohibition ended, the home was designed for the brewing dynasty by the architect Francis Abreu—apprentice of the famed South Florida architect Addison Mizner, according to the Wall Street Journal. Completed in 1938, the Busch family home was dubbed Manga Reva.
The Mediterranean-style compound was later used as a film location for some of the scenes in the 1960 comedy “Where the Boys Are,” about a group of college coeds who descend on Fort Lauderdale for their raucous spring break.
Aimed at the teen market, the movie is credited with inspiring college students to head to that spot every year.
As vacation homes go, this one is certainly perfect for entertaining crowds year-round, and can easily accommodate friends and family.

The 9,392-square-foot estate contains eight en suite bedrooms, and a total of nine bathrooms and two half-bathrooms.
One of the largest waterfront properties in East Fort Lauderdale, the spread has 525 feet of deepwater frontage, with wide water views.
On 1.21 acres, the grounds include an oversized lap pool, grassy lawns, banyan trees, and 12-foot-privacy hedges.
You can also stage your own entertainment in the outdoor bandshell. Wekerle—who owns a large club in Toronto—has hosted concerts and bands in the setting.
“The years between the Anheuser-Busch family and the current owner, the house languished in anonymity,” Coetzee says.
“Michael brought the house back to life by adding lights, camera, and action to the outdoor amphitheater, a whimsical touch to every room, and a sculptured water fountain overlooking the 60-foot, oversized lap pool.”
She adds, “The house was built for entertaining, and Michael responded.”
Luxe features in the main house include a media room, a large chef’s kitchen with island, a deep-red billiard-room, formal dining room, wine room, living room, and gym.
Recent upgrades to the home include double-glazed hurricane impact windows and a whole-house generator. The property also includes a two-bedroom guesthouse.
If you like the decor, you can opt to buy what you see on the walls as well. Wekerle is offering his art collection for negotiation into the final sale price.
